hey gang. glad we are mostly all here. wonder if bob g will ever notice that we aren't there? apparently some other posters are (like nublogster and harriman as chi mom quoted). makes sense tho, not to have such open discussions when they are hauled into court as proof that a fair trial can't be had.

technical question for the admins- as hacking or other problems with tdo were popping up, what are the chances that someone would be able to get into this site? or get at the info we provide when registering? just asking. i am one of the least techno suave people around so it's all greek to me, but a concern for some.

IANO/DotToDot would you please answer Tazebell's question in more detail. Taze, I do know IANO said this site was much more secure than TDO (and no stupid, time-wasting ads to maneuver around).

Just so you know, I was DotToDot on TDO. Actual hacking is no where near as common as people think. There are three main types of hackers: 1- those who want to gain something; money, information or status among other hackers, 2- those poking around just to see what they can break into, and 3- government agencies with court orders (extremely rare) or those willing to break the law (I hope even more rare). Homeland Security can probably get in but they are too busy to care about a little forum like ours to even save the data.
Hacking the TDO site is possible but unlikely, I really think the problems everyone had there were due to poor programming and site maintenance. Coding errors might pop up here too but a disappearing post is nothing sinister, just a glitch. Completely closing the site to non members might actually attract a really nosy hacker if they happened on the site but you have to know this address to find it and the odds are minuscule that someone with that level of expertise would bother to break in just to read posts about Cheryl.

Theoretically they could hack the forumotion.com site and get access to everyone's info from all of their forums but the software they use has a reputation for being well designed. And again, it would be a lot of work for limited benefit because the vast majority of people posting on forums make up their info.
As for someone getting into your personal machine there are much easier ways to get in than by hacking a forum. You are in more danger from opening a junk email than you are from logging into a forum.

best of luck to georgia peach. hope the computer thing with her aol files gets an easy resolve. wish fungus was among us because i think i read that there was a bad moon or something thru the 14th of this month - but should make for better times, say on the 20th? go in with guns a blazin' - and peach's assessment of the legal system and lawyers is why I don't practice anymore. I hate lying liars and the lies they tell. lying is one thing that burns me up and when i first witnessed a lawyer standing and telling an out right lie that was when i learned what they didn't teach in law school. everybody lies.

now House uses that in every episode so it must be true.
