BandMom,
i've been trying to catch up reading on the TDO. You wrote

"GP2....I had the exact same thought myself yesterday until I recalled him saying that all Miss Emerson had with her was a fannypack. I suppose he very well could've gotten it out of her car though. That's a definite possibility. I was hoping that book could've tied him to the Dunlap case...ya' know, as some type of physical evidence but it very well may have been Meredith's all along. I find the similarities between Ms. Dunlap and Miss Emerson uncanny though and that troubles me. I also don't remember any books on the van inventory list so I'm leaning towards ruling out that it was his."

I bet the book didn't show up anywhere because in his interview, he said "I GAVE HER A BOOK TO READ AND UH, EVERYTHING ELSE THERE. AND I WALKED UP AND MADE AS IF TO UH, UNSECURE THE CHAIN, UH, STRUCK HER ..." (sorry i had to quote the monster"

Anyway, if he gave her the book, and then murdered her right then, the book would have gotten blood all over it, right? then he probably buried, or burned it, or whatever was needed to dispose of it.

What do you think?

Do you think it might be possible that the book GMH said he handed
Meredith was this one? I know what the 'script says but still? Also IIRC the book was collected when he cleaned up the scene and presumably left in the woods in that garbage bag.

King Of The Cannibals
The Story Of John G. Paton, Missionary To The Hebrides
(Paperback) by Jim Cromarty
Great Love and Faith shown in the life of John Patton

John Paton a Psalm Singing reformed Christian, was a native
of Scotland that became a missionary to the cannibals of the South
Pacific in the 1800's. Mr. Paton shines with the grace of his Lord by
risking his life over and over again for people that did not want him.
This man truly believed in the sovereignty of God.. A memorable moment
in the book was when Mr. Paton challenged the witch doctors, to kill
him with their magic (this reminded me of Elijah's challenge to the
prophets of Baal in I Kings 18). Mr. Paton spent his whole life
learning their language and translating the Bible for them. Many other
missionaries lost their lives on the Islands but by God's Grace Mr.
Paton lived to see the fruits of his labors. I highly recommend this
book to you and pray that more men and women like John Paton will be
raised up among us. (review from amazon.com)

Daffodil....Yes, he did give her the book right before he murdered her but we don't know if that was the ONLY time he handed her this book to read. My thoughts are this....either it was Miss Emerson's book and he got it out of her car and used it to keep her quiet and was going through the motions of packing her stuff up to let her go, hence returning her book to her OR it was Ms. Dunlap's and she had it in her possession when she was abducted and that's how he obtained it. The statement I made about no books being on the van inventory list wasn't referring to THIS book in question but more so to suggest and point out that he apparently didn't own any OTHER books so the likehood of this one being HIS doesn't seem like it would be the case.
