Deadly Run finally arrived today, what a bad movie! Not one line was
delivered convincingly, the cast must have been chosen solely because
they showed up for the casting call. I have seen a lot of bad movies
and this one just may be the worst waste of film I have ever seen. Add
to that the gruesome connection to Hilton and it has no redeeming value
whatsoever. Thank goodness for
Netflix, I didn't have to pay for it.
Tallysleuth, It is definitely based on Robert Hanson, the killer is a
successful business man, owns his own plane and has a wife and kids. He
picks up hookers and strippers and flies them to the wilderness where
he kills them. Like Hansen, the Police don't want to investigate him.
But unlike Hanson, he does not rape any of them.
Since I can't recommend anyone watch it I'll give a bit more detail
than the synopses I have read. It opens with a dream sequence of a
group of kids running a footrace. One kid gets knocked down into the
mud and the boy who did it wins the race, giving the impression that
being bullied turns the kid into the future killer. Throughout the
movie he picks up women in Atlanta and flies them in his private plane
to northeast Georgia where he sets them free and gives them a 30 minute
head start. In one scene, probably suggested by Hilton, one of the
women stumbles upon the cabin thinking she is saved only to find him
inside menacingly holding a cleaver. Thankfully he drops it when he
runs after her and only guns and (bizarrely) bazookas are used.
Eventually a friend of the first victim convinces a cop to investigate
but of course he gets killed. To give you an idea of how bad the film
is, at one point three hunters stumble across him burying one woman
while a second, soon to be victim stands behind him with the shovel
screaming for help. He points his little .38 at them and they drop
their shotguns and run away. He catches up to them, gets in one of
their trucks and chases them. He eventually kills them by pushing their
car over a 20 foot cliff where it promptly explodes. Meanwhile the
other woman gets to the plane and figures out how to start it but runs
it around a set of trees at about five mph when, you guessed it, it
explodes too. He only kills four of the women he takes up there but
along the way the total victim count comes to eleven. PM me if you want
to know the ending.
